Savannah Santa Train, one of the largest annual holiday events of the lowcountry, will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 9 am to 5 pm at Georgia State Railroad Museum, located at 655 Louisville Rd., Savannah, GA.
For the ninth annual event, guests can build a holiday wonderland with Snapology of Savannah, enjoy caroling from Savannah Stage Company and design a banner for local hospital patients with Savannah Children's Museum’s “Carts with heART” program. Guests can also engage in festive, seasonal activities with Tails from the Lowcountry, create holiday t-shirts with Maven Makers and interact with arctic animals from Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
The Salvation Army Savannah GA will have donation stations around our site as well as an Angel Tree Donation Drive to benefit under-served children in our community. To participate, please bring an unwrapped, newly purchased gift for a child to the Angel Tree station during the event. The Salvation Army will also be bringing their mobile Canteen with free donuts, coffee and hot chocolate.
Other activities for visitors will include learning how to shoulder a musket at our Toy Soldier Training station--this year featuring 19th century dancing and singing from Three Fold Chord--celebrating different cultures during our “Holidays Around the World” scavenger hunt, taking a holiday-themed ride on a steam locomotive and sharing a Christmas wish with Santa Claus.
In addition to the many workshops and activities, visitors can purchase a gourmet grilled cheese from The Big Cheese food truck and have a sweet treat for dessert from Leopold's Ice Cream.
Savannah Santa Train guests are invited to do some holiday shopping for unique, fun and educational gifts in our Georgia State Railroad Museum gift shop. On Saturday, December 9th we are offering 15% off of all merchandise to encourage visitors to browse our holiday items.
Savannah Santa Train is hosted each year by Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children's Museum.
TICKETS are $15 per person for all guests eighteen months and up and pre-registration is required at: chsgeorgia.org/santa-train.
