— and KRAMPUS will be looking for YOU! Looking to embrace the theme? Dress as Krampus, Perchta or a naughty child! Think horns...fangs...claws....evil.... In Central European folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as "half-goat, half-demon". In contrast with Saint Nicholas (Santa), who rewards the well-behaved with gifts, Krampus’ particular specialty is punishing naughty children. Legend has it that throughout the Christmas season, misbehaved kids are beaten with birch branches or can disappear, stuffed into Krampus’ sack and hauled off to his lair to be tortured or eaten. Krampus is one of the companions of Saint Nicholas in several regions including Austria, Bavaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Northern Italy including South Tyrol, Slovakia, and Slovenia. ** MORE INFO.
