This is a week of exploring all fitness avenues in a way that is challenging, exciting, and (above all) FUN! Each day has a specific theme, snack time, movement education section and mindful moment where we focus on the positive aspects of a healthy life.
For this age group we will focus on learning the basics of each of these fitness avenues in a way that is fun and challenging but with a slightly higher emphasis on quality of movements, personal challenge, goal setting and gaining overall fitness knowledge.
Monday: Obstacle Course/Gymnastics Day.
This day focuses on jumps, rolling, ducking, pulling, and pushing over fun obstacles in a relay race style! We will also be learning and playing with basic tumbling skills designed for the obstacles. This day will include races through these movements where each child will have the opportunity to record their results on the designated white-baord/goal board.
. Tuesday: Striking Day!
Led by one of our MittFitt instructors, we are focused on boxing, kicking and more! This day is upbeat and fun while teaching focused and purposeful movement.
For this age ground we will be learning movement combos and will include partner work.
Wednesday: Yoga & Balance Day
When kids do yoga we all win! This day teaches body control, active listening, flexibility, and challenges the child to try new things. On this day we will use yoga as a tool to work on balancing while working on different types of inversions and balancing poses like down dog, handstands, and tree pose. We will also have a guided meditation at the end of class focusing on the power of trying your best and appreciating your own effort/capabilities!
Thursday: CrossFit Day!
Everything you would want in HIIT exercise day, but for your child! We will focus on learning the correct form of our basic movements: squat, press, and deadlift in a way that is fun and interactive! The day will consist of 3-4 workouts that focus on individual efforts and teamwork. For this age group any weight used (if any) will be less than 15 pounds and will be subject to what’s safe and effective for each individual child.
