St Marys is the gateway to Cumberland Island, Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island. Natives, missionaries, enslaved African Americans and Wealthy Industrialists all walked here. Cumberland Island is also home to over 9,800 acres of Congressionally designated Wilderness.
