Savannah has many activities on a regular basis, and Mother's Day is no exception. There are a wide variety of ways to make sure that Mom has a memorable day.

Families have options to explore Savannah's tremendous natural landscape, learn more about the city's history, or dine at a series of acclaimed restaurants. Here are some of our top choices for things to do on Mother's Day in Savannah:

Picnic at Forsyth Park

No setting is better identified with Savannah than Forsyth Park. The 30-acre park opened in 1840 in the heart of town and is beloved for features like their iconic water fountain and Fragrant Garden.

Those looking for a leisurely Mother's Day experience outside should consider picnicking in Forsyth Park. There is ample space to lay out a blanket, bring some of Mom's favorite foods, and enjoy a great day with family.

Telfair Museum

Telfair Museum holds the distinction of being the oldest public art museum in the Southeast. There are even two National Historic Landmark buildings on the property: the Telfair Academy and the Owens-Thomas House.

The Telfair Museum boasts a strong collection from American impressionist artists like Childe Hassam, Frederick Frieseke, and Gari Melchers. They're open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mother's Day, and admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $15 for students ages 13 through 25, and free for children ages 12 and under.

Moon River Kayak Tours

A great way to get in touch with nature on Mother's Day is taking a trip with Moon River Kayak Tours, and the two and a half hour tour is $50 per person.

Riders travel through the marshes and rivers of Savannah's Lowcountry while learning a great deal about the area's history. They also can spot tremendous wildlife specific to the region like eagles, osprey, dolphins, and otters.

Jekyll Island Turtle Crawl Weekend

Turtle Crawl Weekend is one of the special annual events at Jekyll Island. On Mother's Day, the Turtle Crawl 10K and 5K runs will be held starting near the Jekyll Island Convention Center at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.

These road races provide tremendous views for participants and benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Registration for the 10K run is $45, and sign-up for the 5K race is $35.

Mother's Day Brunch

Brunch is a highlight of any weekend in Savannah, and local establishments up their game for Mother's Day. There are several standout restaurants that are located near the city's Historic Downtown and riverfront.

One great option that offers a distinctly different brunch experience is riding with Savannah Riverboat Cruises. They sail from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Mother's Day and offer a brunch buffet that is $56.95 for adults, $35.95 for children ages five through 12, and free for kids under five.
